ELECTIVE COURSE OFFERING

Each student will select two (2) electives to participate in on a daily basis at camp.

Our elective offerings for 2026 include:

1. BAND KARATE

   ** This elective session is only available to students who have just completed their 1st or 2nd year of band.

   Congratulations on completing your first year or two of band!  Get ready to level up your musical skills with Band Karate, an exciting elective at TCSBC.  Dive into a dynamic and competitive environment where you'll earn different belt levels by mastering musical pieces, akin to a 'karate' session.  Join us for a safe, enjoyable, and rewarding experience where you'll sharpen your music-making abilities and have a blast along the way!

2. LEVEL UP: TAKE THE LEAD!

   Step up . . . team up . . . and speak up. Build real leadership skills as you work with others, share ideas, and take on FUN musical challenges that help your group improve, with our Level Up: Take the Lead elective class at TCSBC!  Take on a musical escape room, solve problems as a team, and push each other to the next level. Be part of the group that brings the energy and builds a stronger, more confident team that is focused and ready to work together in the ensemble setting. Ready to level up?

3. JAZZ

   Embark on a captivating journey through the vibrant world of jazz in our elective class at TCSBC!  Delve into the rich tapestry of jazz history, from its roots to contemporary innovations, and hone your listening skills through exploration of iconic jazz recordings.  Immerse yourself in the art of improvisation as you unlock the secrets of spontaneous musical expression, guided by experienced instructors.  Join us for an inspiring exploration where you'll discover the brilliance of jazz legends, cultivate a deep appreciation for the genre, and learn to speak the language of improvisation with confidence.

4. MUSIC THEORY, TECHNOLOGY, AND COMPOSITION

   Dive into the heart of music theory and creation with this exciting elective class at TCSBC!  Explore the fundamental pillars of music theory, unleash your creativity through composition exercises, and harness the power of modern technology for production.  Whether you're a budding composer or a tech-savvy musician, this class offers a dynamic blend of theory and hands-on experience to elevate your musical journey. Join us for an immersive exploration into the art and science of music-making!

5. CONDUCTING

   Embark on a journey into the art of musical leadership with our conducting elective at TCSBC!  Delve into the fundamentals of conducting techniques, from baton handling to expressive gestures, under the guidance of experienced instructors.  Through hands-on instruction, you'll refine essential skills such as cuing and precision cutoffs, empowering you to lead with confidence and clarity.  Join us for an immersive experience where you'll hone your skills and conduct with confidence!
